Plum Village is rooted in compassion, mindfulness, and deep listening. Peaceful Heart Sangha thus welcomes everyone to attend our meetings either in-person or online, as we aim to make our practice as accessible as possible. No prior experience with meditation or Buddhist philosophy is required! People of diverse faiths from around the world have incorporated Plum Village tenets into their practice
What should I expect?
Meditation Practice
Meditation is a fundamental part of our practice. We practice sitting meditation, either on a chair or cushion, as well as walking meditation, which involves taking slow, mindful steps. Most seated meditations are guided where you’ll be given a short phrase to internally recite with each in breath and out breath.
Dharma Talk
At our in-person classes, we often listen to a 10-15 minute dharma talk, which are discourses on Buddhist philosophy. These talks help us to deepen practice and bring more compassion, gratitude, and joy into our daily life.
Dharma Sharing
Dharma sharing’s are an opportunity to practice both speaking from the heart as well as deep listening. During dharma sharing, we can speak about anything that resonated with us from the dharma talk or we can share more generally about our practice. Or we don’t have to share at all! We can simple practice deep listening as we enjoy the company and joy of the sangha.
